Frequently Asked Questions

We have compiled some frequently asked questions regarding the Stern clubs and the Central Club Application.

  • Most clubs host weekly general meetings covering topics ranging from industry overviews to technical workshops. General meetings are also a good way to stay engaged with and build relationships with club members.

  • Stern clubs host a variety of events, including general meetings, alumni events, firm events, workshops, and social events. These events are open to all undergraduate students and are advertised weekly in the ICC newsletter.

  • Exploratory programs focus on areas such as general leadership training, public speaking, professionalism, mentorship, community building, and career exploration.

    Team programs focus more heavily on pre-professional materials and skills designed to prepare students for post-college experiences, including recruiting, PowerPoint, Excel, and technical knowledge.

  • Club program applications are housed in a centralized application linked through the ICC website. Students can use the Central Club Application to apply to both exploratory and team programs. Individual club websites will continue to provide information about the programs each club offers.

  • No. First-year students are not required to submit a resume as part of club applications. This question, if asked by clubs during the application process, is optional for first-years.

  • Make sure that you grant viewing access to any documents you submit. Because the application collects document links, clubs need to be able to access the files you provide.

  • Yes. You can apply to as many or as few club programs as you would like through the Central Club Application. You can submit applications one at a time or submit applications to multiple programs at once.

  • No. General meetings, alumni events, firm events, workshops, and social events are open to all undergraduate students.

  • Exploratory program applications are open from September 14–19. Interviews take place from September 19–26, and decisions are released on September 27.

  • Team program applications are open from September 20–26. Interviews take place from September 26–October 3, and decisions are released on October 4.

  • For club applications, a coffee chat is typically a 15–30 minute conversation with an existing club member. It is an opportunity to learn more about the club and its programs while introducing yourself and putting a name to your application. More generally, coffee chats are a useful way to learn about clubs or industries you may be interested in.

  • Many clubs provide club-specific coffee chat forms through the ICC website, the club’s website, Instagram, or Linktree. You can also reach out directly by email.

  • Resources include PDCE, peer mentors through Stern Life, coaching appointments through Handshake, NYU Wasserman Center for Career Development, your academic advisor, ICC, and OSE.
